January is National Radon Action Month. Radon is an invisible, odorless, tasteless radioactive gas that comes from the decay of radium in the soil. Since radon is a gas, it can move through the soil and enter the air or your home. Radon is the leading cause of lung cancer in people who have never smoked. A simple test will let you know if radon is present in your home. North Central District Health Department has test kits available. Please call Amy Latzel 402-336-2406 if you have any questions or to request a test kit for your home.
